HOW MANY times can you FREEZE A STEAK?

Today was a very important experiment for me. I need to find out how many times I can freeze a steak before it's bad! I like to save money so I always buy steaks in bulk and freeze them, sometimes I let the steak defrost and end up not cooking that day, can we re-freeze it and if so how many times can it be done? Today we find out!

    Important! NEVER...NEVER let your steak get to ROOM TEMP! I cover this in the end of the video. But, if you don't watch until the end you will miss important information. Steaks must ALWAYS REMAIN in the refrigerator, IF NOT you encourage bacteria growth specially if steaks are at room temp. Love you guys!

    @Simon Park yes they will grow but not sigmificantly if you refreeze it immediately after the defrost is done.

    I think the 3 days of wet aging that happened each time when you left the steak hang in the refrigerator caused the deterioration, instead of the actual thawing and freezing. Steak 3x had 9 days of wet aging and steak 4x had 12 days! I reckon that if you refreeze each steak within 24 hours after defrosting that the increase in deterioration between steaks 1x and 4x would have been negligible. Maybe something to test in a new video? 😁👍

    I wonder how many times our steaks have been frozen by the time we get it here in Asia. We get Prime and Choice here but I'm guessing it's at least 2-3x frozen. Up to experimenting on that Guga? Freezing for the weeks it gets transported via sea, before it even gets to the distributor before it gets to the stores. Hope you can try this out in actual time Guga!

    So after watching a couple of Guga videos (but not this one) I bought some A5 Wagyu which came frozen. I practically gave myself a heart attack trying to cut the frozen roast into steaks with a hacksaw. Live and learn. I could have defrosted and refrozen without significant change.     I do not know if I like Chris he doesn't give the right vibe of the channel. For me his demeanor seems rude and unappreciative of the chance he has for the experiment itself.     2:55 frozen again slowly... huge mistake. If you freeze, do it fast. Slow freezing results in big ice crystals that cut trough the cell structure of your meat, that's the reason you loose flavor, juice and weight.

    As an Old Meat Cutter, I want you guys to understand something. Don't Ever Refreeze Steaks...Ever!! "Between 0°C and 4°C (or 32°F and 40°F), most bacteria will survive but will not multiply quickly. Water freezes at 0°C (or 32°F). Between 0°C and −18°C (or 0°F and 32°F), most bacterial will survive but not grow." The simple fact is the only time you will not get Bacteria grow in meats is when the steaks/meats are below freezing. Doing the method in this video means you are letting the Bacteria grow for 3 days per thaw. That means the last steak with 4 freezes has had 12 days of Bacteria grow.

    Quick question: When I let a steak rest after seasoning, is it better to leave it out of the fridge or keep it in and then, after the time has passed, let it go back to room temperature?
